artist bio

Kathi Cunningham Bradley was an a
rtist from her earliest memories.
In college, Kathi opted for a more
stable path and obtained a law
degree from Hofstra University in
1995. She soon found out that her true passion wouldn't be suppressed and began painting again after a 15-year hiatus.
An avid photographer, Kathi takes a photo and knows instinctively when a certain shot will make it to canvas. "I have a long list of paintings in my head, which is nice because I rarely get the 'blank canvas' syndrome of not knowing what to paint". Kathi prefers atypical poses and situations that speak volumes about a person's or animal's character. "I try and suggest portraits" says the artist, "that have a certain significance, like a dog and his favorite toy or a familiar pose that will evoke pleasant memories far beyond a pets lifetime or a child's youth."
No longer working in the law, Kathi still maintains a "day job" to pay the bills. "The reality is, often you have to double your efforts to see your dreams materialize." That is fine with this artist though, because she will no doubt appreciate the day when the "day job" will be a fruitful and fulfilling art career.
"I am just glad to be painting again. I came into this world knowing how to draw and paint, and I think it is my responsibility to follow this path and see where it leads me. I know there is a higher purpose for it, just like there is with everyone's gifts and talents. For now, all I can do is practice my craft and be open to the possibilities that I know will manifest one day. You know the famous quote by Joseph Campbell to 'Follow your bliss?' Well, I get it now, I finally get it."
